Crew Resource Management Training

The Crew Resource Management Training (abbreviated to CRM training) is an annual compulsory training, stipulated in accordance with JAR-OPS 3, for pilots, air crews and ground staff. The training serves to increase safety in flight operation by improving co-operation within crews. This is achieved by systematic optimisation and standardisation of procedures, processes and communication between crew members.

Content of CRM training:

  • Human Factors (Human Error)
  • Situational Awareness
  • Leadership
  • Cooperation
  • Communication
  • Stress & Workload
  • Decision making
  • Quality Management

Background to CRM training

With the rapid increase in flight operation at the end of 20th century, there was unfortunately also an increase in the number incidents that often led to catastrophes. Following an analysis, it was established that a major part of these incidents could be attributed to human error.

Consequently, so-called Crew Resource Management was developed to appropriately train pilots, crews and ground staff and systematically reduce mistakes. The success of these trainings finally also led to the statutory requirement to conduct these trainings regularly.

Certificate
