Theoretical training

In accordance with the new JAR-FCL regulations, the precise number of hours of the theoretical training is no longer specified. The experienced flight instructors of Heli Aviation have prepared the theory in accordance with the legal specifications in order to convey the information to you in a compact yet comprehensive fashion. The theoretical training includes the following specialist areas:

  • Aerodynamics
  • General aviation knowledge
  • Operating procedure
  • Aircraft performance and planning
  • Air law and air traffic control procedures
  • Human performance
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation
  • Radio-telephony certificate (BZF 2)

The theoretical training is completed by passing exams in the respective subject areas. The exams are held in the authorised Regional Commission and are mainly in the form of multiple choice questions.

Practical flight training

The practical training for a private pilot requires 45 flying hours. These must be undertaken as described in the following:

  • 25 flying hours with an authorised flight instructor, including at least 5 hours of instrument flight training
  • 10 flying hours solo flight, including at least 5 flying hours solo cross-country flight. A cross-country flight must take place over 100 nautical miles and includes two landings at different airportszen

Permission for solo flights requires successful completion of the theoretical training. The technical test and emergency procedures and a navigation flight are normally undertaken with the concluding test flight.
