For PPL-A / B license holders

Relaxations of requirements for PPL-A / B license holders in the training for PPL-H helicopter pilots.

... the Federal Office of Civil Aviation allows further relaxations of requirements in the training for PPL-H helicopter pilots in accordance with JAR FCL 2 amendment 6 (valid from February 2009) PPL-H.

Relaxation of requirements for the theoretical training

Since a major part of the theoretical content was taught during acquisition of the present license, upon request, the theoretical training at the Federal Office of Civil Aviation can be greatly reduced. Normally, only the aircraft specific content must be taught and, at the discretion of the aeronautical authority, further areas refreshed. These areas can include:

  • General aircraft knowledge
  • Aerodynamics
  • Conduct in special cases

Relaxation of requirements for the practical training

In addition to the relaxation of requirements for the theoretical training, the current JAR FCL 2 Amendment 6 envisages an increase in the deductible flying hours. So now up to ten flying hours can be deducted from the practical flight training instead of six. This means that for holders of PPL-A or PPL-B licenses, the legal specifications for the PPL-H training amount to only 35 flying hours instead of 45.

Your advantage as a license holder

Heli Aviation has calculated the relaxations of requirements for the theoretical and practical training into special offers. So if you complete the training within the legally required specifications you can claim a fixed price advantage of up to 8,000 euro (depending on the training helicopter, in comparison to training without possession of a license).
